Does anybody know of a good #OpenSource #Notation software as a replacement for #MuseScore because I don't want to use it anymore (for various reasons). I'd need a macOS build (preferably ARM).

Hey !Friendica Admins whenever I update my profile and look at it from other servers I can see the updates never reached them, seems to happen with ActivityPub mostly... is there a way to fix that ? Force a message to those servers to download the updated profile in a way they won't ignore it/fail to see it ?

Since Mastodon saw its initial popularity circa 2017, I've noticed that most users and those reporting on it either don't think about the Fediverse as anything more than Mastodon, or treat its history as beginning with Eugen Rochko and the beginning of Mastodon. In fact, Mastodon is the latest in a long line of federated social networks going at least back to Identi.ca, and though I wasn't around for all of it, I find this history pretty interesting. (Thread; boosts welcome!)

Reminder that the fediverse is a stopgap measure based on the technological limitations of web 2.0 and current tech knowledge in our culture (self-hosting literally requires years of training), the eventual solution must be everyone controls their own domain and has complete control over what goes in and out of it.

As a field we have completely and utterly failed to bring personal computing to the web. Remember personal computing's goal of empowering the individual and giving them full control over their computing environment. As soon as we began networking computers the limitations of the networks at the time made it necessary to go back to the client/server model, but then we just abandoned personal computing and all our efforts were focused on thinning the client and farming users.

The fediverse is still part of that model, it's just obscured because the Big Bad Evil Guy running the network is now a whole lot of Small Bad Evil Guys, or Small Bad Evil Collectives, rather than true individual computing autonomy. Social computing without viable personal computing will always revert to some asshole somewhere deciding what you can and cannot compute.
would you consider P2P stuff in the vein of secure-scuttlebutt as something outside this model, or self-hosting on the fediverse as a way to mitigate as much of the harm as possible?
@violet_cerue came here to say this basically, though ssb is a very primitive first try in that direction if you ask me. still cool, but its a small step in a very long path that will require a lot of new social inventions like said above. moderation abd concepts of public/private change a lot when its a default open network without any material friction preventing spam. but im excited!
@violet_cerue There are probably multiple technical solutions, some of which might even be currently semi-viable for technical people, but the general point is that we should refocus on personal computing, and especially personal networked computing and that means we need to make running a server without needing to be a professional SRE viable for a much larger number of people than now.
