A few months ago I got a “square” 16:18 aspect ratio monitor. It works as single screen or can take 2 input with picture by picture on top of each other, which is great to have 2 devices. It’s pretty good for focused coding since it’s easier to have code centered and nothing on the side. I like it a lot, way more than ultra wide screens.
I was thinking about getting one like that, but ended up getting a 16:9 that I can swivel to be either horizontal or vertical. It's great!
@oldschooltf2 they height of a 16:9 rotates was very uncomfortable to me, but it’s indeed a more global solution. With this we kinda loose 16:9
yeah. I like it particularly because it makes it very easy to read chat when I'm streaming. And the rotation on the model I got is smooth enough to not be unnerving.
oooh this is neat, I like that idea - which monitor did you go for? Do you have it next to a widescreen monitor too?
@sjm this is an LG DualUp
@sjm
So awesome! I NEED IT
@JavaViper it’s an LG DualUp in case you want to look it up
Interesting. so that's two monitors ? what model are they?
@Maxrunner the square one is an LG DualUp, the one on the side is my old 16:9 an off brand monitor I got several years ago but server me well.
Sorry didnt saw the other responses, so you can connect two devices to this right ? How much did you paid for it ?
@Maxrunner 550€ on Black Friday IIRC
good price I guess
The DualUp's rad, like mine a lot. Only problem I've had is that since it uses software to combine the two panels into one, it doesn't play nice with driver softwares for things like pen tablets. So now I have to run it in dual monitor mode all the time.
@rocketpunches with pen tablets, how so, the USB connection?
for my Xencelabs tablet it interferes with the screen region mapping when in the single screen mode, causes the pen input to jump around randomly and not stay in its region. Might work better with more common stuff like Wacoms though. Also noticed it will shift windows around when launching games on my main monitor in the single screen mode as well. Ultimately small stuff for something so niche.

what game is that in the fourth picture?
@OliverUv Quest of Dungeons https://store.steampowered.com/app/270050/Quest_of_Dungeons/
so cool! one monitor taking 2 inputs at once sounds really convenient
@dani303 it really is, I guess the downsize is losing vertical area, but dual input is handy a lot of times.
@dani
ah yes, the perfect* #Pico8 monitor 😍

*(Aspect wise - albeit doing so would constitute a shocking underutilisation of such a powerful display 😄)
😮
@jec great choice 😀
@jec&
@David Amador Oooo, where does one get something like this?
