this little dude was hanging out on our garage yesterday. surprising considering they're cold-blooded and it was close to freezing!

Oh! Sorry, I have no idea. It just looks like one? That's afaik what everyone calls the animals that look like this lol (also sincerely replying)

Oh! I get it now. It's actually the opposite for us. We call the drier ones sapos ("frogs") and wet ones ranas (it seems you don't have a translation for that word in english). But when looking it up it seems these are all nonscientific terms (by "all" I mean frogs and toads, but sapos and ranas as well) and the actual taxonomy is much more complex and does not reflect popular usage. Kinda like when people call fruits vegetables, or berries things that aren't, etc etc
that's fascinating! I learned spanish in school but didn't know about sapos vs ranas. We have the words "frog" (which I was taught meant "rana") and "toad" (the kind that doesn't live in water).
