I miss when Star Trek was boring and for the extremely nerd, instead of mainstream generic space opera of doomsday threats and cartoonish villains. But it's not about gatekeeping or whatever you might think - it's because it was different. Unlike Narissa from Picard S01, I am not a onedimensional character. I can be many things, and being extremely nerd is just one of them. I am also mainstream audience, and I do greatly enjoy mainstream melodramatic space opera, like the Mandalorian for example. But my nerd self has nowhere to go now.
Also, the future of classic Star Trek was somewhere that made you want to live there and daydream of what could be possible. The NuTrek dystopia where everything is blowing up all the time, is not that. Can we please have different things
