Curious as a long time paid #proton user if the Proton team has a position on people like Kelly Neidart using their @protonmail service to target #drag story time events and #gender care providers? It certainly seems like this should be a TOS issue? #Antifascist

I sent the following via in-app help request, abuse@protonmail.com, and @ProtonSupport Twitter DM:

> Please disable protecttxkids.org’s account for violating Proton Mail’s terms of service against illegal or prohibited activities. “Protect #Texas Kids” at protecttxkids.org receives information tips via #ProtonMail about all-ages #drag shows on private property and then encourages visitors and subscribers to protest them in person.

I find it’s more effective to make direct contact, especially when the recipient isn’t using the social media you’re complaining on.

@mjgardner yes! absolutely, and thank you! I was initially just putting this out into the ether to see if others had insights around the proton team's stance on this, but yeah I will also be following up directly.
I love this. @Jessica Kant I was gonna ask whether you had the links of the screenshot and that was gonna bring it up to them right now - but since you are not on my contact list, I don't get the entire thread with all replies. So I visited the original thread on your home instance to find @Mark Gardner 🧾 had already done this.

This legit made me really happy ❤️
@jec They have since changed the website directions to use their own domain for email, but you can discover that #ProtonMail is handling it if you know how to look. Or in this case, `dig`
A screenshot of a Unix terminal running the `dig` command to discover the mail exchanges, or “MX” domain name service (DNS) records, for the protecttxkids.org Internet domain
@jec I’m continuing to work this but need to adopt better opsec. If you want me to keep you updated I need a more secure channel like https://signal.org or ProtonMail itself. PGP outside of ProtonMail’s no good as it leaks headers.

@mjgardner @jec this of course brings up the issue of sending non E2EE DMs 🤣
@jec Yah, well aware of that. One of my early posts on that topic went viral https://mastodon.sdf.org/@mjgardner/109412088897080525

@mjgardner @jec oh yes! I figured you knew 😀 just meant, it's annoying that there aren't better options. Curious if you've heard of any addons dev'd to replace DMs?
@jec There was some work done in 2020 to add #E2EE server-side on #Mastodon https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/pull/13820

But nothing on the web UI or other apps can use it. They don’t even have a format designed for encrypted messages yet. Mastodon wasn’t really designed for privacy, and it’s hard to bolt it on afterwards. Plus I don’t think the lead devs are very motivated or have more pressing issues.
@jec And none of that addresses #E2EE messaging via #ActivityPub across other #fediverse services and applications. Neither it nor the #ActivityStreams spec it’s based on even mention #encryption—any security concerns are about authentication, authorization, and preventing #spam and #DenialOfService attacks.
