imo I think that if #RaspberryPi expects to gain any kind of trust back, they'd pretty much need to publish full specifications for all its black box elements and release full source of all its non-frew proprietary bits.

But the whole #fediblock pile-on thing, and suggestions of not buying Raspberry Pi's are just as bad.

The Turing Test poisoned the minds of generations of AI enthusiasts, because its criteria is producing text that persuades observers it was written by a human.
The result? Generative AI text products designed to "appear real" rather than produce accurate or ethical outputs.
It *should* be obvious why it's problematic to create a piece of software that excels at persuasion without concern for accuracy, honesty or ethics. But apparently it's not.

What's going on here is that unrelated libertarian principles are being recoded as issues of free speech. All of sudden preventing algorithmic harm becomes leftist censorship, and the culture war is used as a bulwark against government regulation of discriminatory technologies.

#advertising that is designed to grab NT attention is inadvertently designed to harm #autistic and #ADHD folk. We don't have the same perceptual filters as NTs. That stupid little jingle, someone screaming, the alarm clock ringing, the police siren, or the intentionally grating voice that can get an NT person to notice an ad – that can effectively wreck us and make us turn off the program. Shifting gears from actively listening to actively defending against attention assaults is really hard and upsetting. I can't count how many times I've been listenting to a live stream and turned it off because of a terrible ad and forgot I was listening and never heard the end. And playing the same ad a dozen times an hour is just plain cruel. I have abandoned entire platforms over that, and I'm sure I will again.

But nothing on the web UI or other apps can use it. They don’t even have a format designed for encrypted messages yet. Mastodon wasn’t really designed for privacy, and it’s hard to bolt it on afterwards. Plus I don’t think the lead devs are very motivated or have more pressing issues.

Really can’t stress this enough …
It’s very safe to assume, at a minimum, 1 in 20 people is Autistic. It’s relatively common.
If you think you *might possibly* be Autistic, you very likely are Autistic.
The only logical thing to do is:
- Assume you are Autistic
- Speculate that you *might* be Allistic.
If you *are* Autistic, and you *do* this, you will find yourself wondering less and less “Am I Allistic?” as you accept your Autsitic nature is accurate more and more.

Message to all educators....
If there's a student (child or adult) who is often late attending their classes, or getting to school...
Please don't tell them off and punish or ridicule them as a knee-jerk reaction.
Dig deeper
The fact that they've turned up at all will usually be a strong indication that they've tried very hard to get there.
They could have difficulties with:
- Some of their executive functions (organising, planning, time management, prioritisating, working memory)
- Anxiety about certain aspects of attending school/college/uni (bullying, social interaction with students/teachers who don't understand their communication differences, differences in learning styles)
- Difficulties at home
- Poor sleep
- Difficulties with home environment
- Poverty
Please be curious, gentle and explore their reasons why they're late and work with them.
We often don't see the immense effort the person, and their families go through, just to get them there 5 or 10 minutes late.
To sum up....
Be kind, aporoachable and non-judgemental....both to the student and their caregivers.
To paraphrase Dr Ross Greene,
A person does well if they can.

As an #ActuallyAutistic person, my brain rejects social constructs, it always has. If I don't understand something, if it doesn't make sense to me on a fundamental level, I can't participate in it. If I try it feels like lying and lying feels like my internal organs are boiling inside of me.

In the dominant culture there’s an ethic that value only comes from DOING.
This ethic was crafted deliberately by the predatory and parasitical classes long ago to brainwash the masses, to get them to invest their sense of identity and value in the cult of productivity.
Of course there’s nothing wrong with productivity and it’s an essential element of our existence to produce, but out of balance with BEING you end up w an exploitative culture.
We even learn to exploit our own bodies.
This ethic was crafted deliberately by the predatory and parasitical classes long ago to brainwash the masses, to get them to invest their sense of identity and value in the cult of productivity.
